Jewish singing sensation Avraham Fried performed in Hebron at a special slichot concert outside the Tomb of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs (Cave of Machpela). The New York-based performer has been one of the best known in the Jewish music world for the past 35 years and has headlined sold-out performances around the world.
In the weeks leading up to the High Holidays, Hebron is a popular destination to recite slichot prayers. Fried led the audience in musical renditions of traditional prayers and Psalms such as Avinu Malkeinu as well as his song Hevron Sheli, an ode to the City of the Founding Fathers and Mothers.
In a social media post, Fried stated that it was a “special privilege to finish my performances in Israel for the year of 5784” in Hebron.
“When I sang the line ‘Hebron, victory is near, Moshiach will come and we'll dance with our forefathers’ I felt that here, with the help of God, it is really close,” he stated.
Fried also thanked his opening act Yagel Oshri, a young Israeli singer famous for his hit “get out of depression” released in the wake of the October 7th attacks. Oshri joined Fried on stage for a duet.
