This hall contains the small opening into the underground caves, known as the “entrance to the Garden of Eden.” On ten days a year the site is reserved for Muslim prayer services including the usually designated Jewish areas and Jewish prayers are held outside.

Dates and times are subject to change.

Normal opening and closing hours:

Winter time - 4:00am - 8:45pm
Summer time - 4:00am - 9:45pm
The outdoor plaza and Seventh Step garden is open 24-hours a day.

Please note - due to the security situation and the nature of the Muslim calendar, there may be last minute changes.
A make-up date will be announced when the Hall of Isaac & Rebecca will be open to Jewish prayers in place of Shabbat Chayei Sarah 5784 / 2023).
It is recommended to confirm prior to the dates by calling 050-647-7776, 050-647-7744.

This arrangement has been coordinated since the 1990s between the Muslim Waqf and the Israeli government. During these days, Jewish prayer books, desks, chairs, etc. are removed and stored. On the Muslim side, the carpets are rolled up and stored. Most holidays go smoothly with coordination between the IDF, Waqf and emergency medical services from both the Israeli and PA sides of the city assisting when needed.
